| Day 1 - 2 | Our sampling of New Mexico starts in Santa Fe with an afternoon hike up the panoramic Atalaya Mountain. The next morning, we hike through cool forests and summit on a grassy knoll that is suspended among lofty peaks high in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. This evening we stay in the timeless village of Chimayo and sample authentic regional cuisine at Restaurante Rancho De Chimayo, one of northern New Mexico's best known restaurants. |
| Day 3 - 4 | WWe head to Taos and cycle deep into Carson National Forest alongside the Rio Chiquito River. Pausing a day in Taos, we trade saddles for paddles for a full-day of whitewater rafting on the renowned Taos Box of the Rio Grande. You can also opt to split your day between rafting and horseback riding, or choose to simply relax and explore Taos' galleries, historic sites and 800-year-old pueblo. Our carefree day ends at one of Taos' distinctive restaurants. |
| Day 5 | We return to the high country and follow the Enchanted Circle to the gold mining boomtown of Red River. We spend the day hiking in the Wheeler Peak Wilderness area. Our destination is the majestic Lost Lake, set in a beautiful glacial valley with the towering Mt. Wheeler as its backdrop. |
| Day 6 | An exhilarating pedal-free descent from the mountains carries us across colorful mesas and on to the brink of the 600-foot deep Rio Grande gorge - a stunning finale to our southwest adventure. Our trip ends in colorful Santa Fe |
