Day 1 After meeting in Anchorage, we begin our adventure with a hike along Matanuska Glacier's frontal ice formations, affording spectacular views of crevasses, caves and surface ponds. On both sides of us lie the Chugach Mountains, rising dramatically 4,000-feet.

Day 2 - 4 Following trails developed by prospectors in search of gold in the early 1900s, we venture deep into the Talkeetna Mountains, a fascinating wilderness of lofty peaks, rock walls, giant boulders, glaciers and cirque lakes. We then trek into the Alaska Range beneath the majestic white presence of Denali. In the evenings, we stay at the Talkeetna Lodge, a beautiful mountain lodge offering unsurpassed views of Mt. McKinley.

Day 5 This morning we hike above tree-line for a sweeping alpine vista of glaciers, moraines and rugged peaks along the Chulitna River basin. In the afternoon, we depart for the Kenai Peninsula by way of the Turnagain Arm on the Seward Highway, considered to be one of the world's most scenic drives.

Day 6 Our route in the Chugach Mountains winds through an old growth Pacific Coast forest to a deep granite gorge. For the more adventurous, choose to hike to the highest point on the historic Iditarod Trail. This exciting trek features glaciers, waterfalls, wildflowers, historic mining ruins and an abundance of wildlife.

Day 7 For our finale, we charter a boat at the peaceful Prince William Sound and paddle to the beautiful Emerald Cove by sea kayak. We then travel by train back to Anchorage for evening flights home.
